Slumber Falls Counselors Needed

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Heart of Texas Association Pastors!

For those of you who may not know, not only am I a fellow pastor, but I am also the Heart of Texas Camp Council Liaison! During this summer, I am also volunteering in the office at camp, helping out wherever I can!

I have been asked to send out an SOS for Volunteer Counselors! We are in desperate need of counselors 18 years and older! If you or any of your church members would be interested in spending a week here on the beautiful Guadalupe River, I promise that you will not be disappointed! Your cup will be filled with the Spirit and the joy of camp! And even better yet, you won’t have to worry about leaving camp with a sore back from camp bunks….because we have tempurpedic mattresses in every cabin! 🙂

We should be good on staff for our new Color Splash camp starting Thursday and for Springs Alive next week.

Here is where we do need help:
June 25th-July 2nd: Roaring Rapids/Sports Camp (Roaring needs more counselors at this time!)
July 3rd-9th: Streams of Faith 1/ Geek Week
July 10th-16th: Living Waters/ Eco Camp
July 17th-23rd: Streams of Faith 2

Now, if you live in a nearby radius of New Braunfels and Slumber Falls and you would like to help, but can’t necessarily spend the night every night for a week, WE CAN STILL USE YOUR HELP!

Our Day Camps are back for Sports Camp, Geek Week, and Eco Camp. Day campers arrive at 9am and are picked up by 5pm each day. If you can only help a few hours here and there, we can always have the help around lunch and an hour after lunch during FOB (flat on back) time! Our day campers don’t go to the cabins to rest, so we need helpers to hang with them in the Bizer Lodge!

Any help that you or any of your church members can provide will be greatly appreciated and welcomed with wide open arms!

If you are interested, feel free to email me at [email protected]. My cell phone is 830-660-1440. And when I am out at camp and in the office, the number is 830-625-2212.

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer so far! Hope to see you all soon! You can find me here at SFC for the next month!

Blessings, Jacqueline Lamensky

Color Splash @ Slumber Falls Camp – An inclusive 4-day camp for LGBTQ+youth

Slumber Falls Camp continues to be a beacon of hope for children and youth of all ages with its all-inclusive summer programming. This year we are excited to announce a new camp called Color Splash, a four-day, LGBTQ+ focused, summer camp experience.

Color Splash will promote an intentionally safe and brave space that welcomes all youth from our South Central Conference churches, and beyond that to other churches, denominations, and faiths.

Rev. Yadi Martinez, Associate Pastor at New Church – Chiesa Nuova, UCC in Dallas Texas, will be directing the Color Splash Camp for Junior High and Senior High age groups. Programming for both age groups will run parallel, each with its own appropriate age group activities. Programing for these four days will include:

  • Empowering workshops.
  • Open and affirming spiritual and worship opportunities
  • Opportunities in the musical, visual and performing arts

We know that many LGBTQ+ young people face significant challenges, anxiety and fear when participating in Christian or other faith-based programs and camps. Yet we also know the life changing experiences that a camp like Color Splash can offer young people as they seek to live into their true authentic selves.

Slumber Falls Camp is an inclusive and empowering environment that opens its doors to all LGBTQ+ youth and their allies. Please join us in prayer as Slumber Falls prepares for summer 2022. And let us rejoice as a conference as we continue to be the church, creating a just world for all.

Go to Camp for FREE!—Slumber Falls Spring Work Camp March 12-14

As most of you know, Faith Church has a close working relationship with our own UCC Slumber Falls Camp, right here in New Braunfels!

Children and youth have camped there and made lifelong friends and memories, congregations have held meaningful retreats on the grounds surrounded by the beauty of nature, clergy (including your own!), have gone there for quiet retreats to rest.

SFC relies on our support to remain a place of fun, learning, and connection with God and each other.

One way we offer support is by attending the regular Work Camp Weekends where we are invited to stay at the camp for free for a causal weekend of laughter and sharing while helping with work projects (primarily Saturday) around the property at 3610 River Road.

In the recent extreme weather of SNOVID 2021, the camp suffered significant plumbing damage and will rely on our support during this work camp, more than ever.  Please make plans to attend.  If you have special tools or expertise, please contact the camp office at 830-625-2212 for possible projects.             To register, go to https://slumberfalls.org/events/sfc-fall-work-camp/
